The Incomplete Lesson: A TRUE Story

Back in my days as a kid, someone very influential in my life used to teach me a couple of things about life…That person would always tell me: “You are what you know…nothing else matters in this life….not sports, not friends, no nothing….you are what you know..Go to school, get good grades and you’ll be fine.” About 3 years ago, while reading a book about financial freedom and personal development I came across with a different opinion about that subject that kept me thinking about it for MONTHS…The author would put it more or less like this: “It is not enough to know about something many people don’t even dream to read about….it is about what you DO with that INFORMATION that makes the difference between those who only dream about financial freedom and others who actually DO something about it….”

That idea stayed in my mind for the next couple of months and I think I was terrified about it..Maybe that is why many times in my life I have not been able to take actions towards my financial/personal problems…Life is funny sometimes, the more you think you know, the more you still have to learn. And I’ve realized lately that no matter what happens, no matter what kind of decisions you make, the clock keeps ticking: it never stops.

But…what is an action? Which action is the right one? According to the Cambridge Dictionary an action is defined by: the process of doing something, especially when dealing with a problem or difficulty. I completely agree with that definition, and will also add that when you start in this business, it really doesn’t matter if you screw up or not…Actually, making mistakes is GOOD…A mistake or error teaches us a lot more than success because it makes us think about a solution or choice, that we didn’t consider at the beginning.

I don’t blame the person that taught me what I wrote about at the beggining of this post…but time has taught me that it is an IMCOMPLETE LESSON. While I admit that knowledge is POWER, knowledge itself won’t take you from being completely broke to rich…the actions, the decisions you take with that knowledge inside of you, will do that.
